Sandefjord Open is an independent fitness and bodybuilding event.

Geir Hansen is the owner of Sandefjord Open and has extensive experience in organizing fitness and bodybuilding events.

He founded Sandefjord Open in 1991 and has since then organized annual events and sometimes multiple events. From 2026, the event will be international and the owner invites all federations to cooperate and participate in the event.

In 1991, he started up as the very first with debutant classes. The founder's idea was that those who did not have the same experience as other established participants should be allowed to compete among themselves first in their own classes. Another founding idea was to incorporate preliminary judging in the show so that the participants did not have to wait long, and the audience could see the participants in all rounds simultaneously. The procedure for this was eventually adopted at other competitions here in Norway and quite likely in many other places as well.
